Last night I had the confirmation that in street photography you don’t get second chances. As I was planning on Dec. 4th, I went back to the ‘oops location’, prepared to shoot at least two or three frames, but the poster that was so important for the composition I had in mind was gone, replaced with the most boring text about phone discounts… see previous post for details :(
I learned a beautiful thing today: “with photography you must take the time to look; and of course, to see”. John Hedgecoe said it. As I was going through the pics from last week, I found this (and I really think this location deserves another look):
Photographing the streets at night appears to me more appealing than ever, though at first it was just a trick to overcome my shyness. I went out today and tried to shoot at daylight, but after taking about a dozen of useless frames - street beggars, people climbing up stairs, people going down stairs, and so on - I felt that nothing was really worth it.
Thus I’ll stick to my neon lights for the moment; pathetic, but so much easier.
