photographers of my soul (II)

Sometimes, when people walk away from you before you get the time to press the shutter, when street dogs bark mean things at you while rain keeps pouring down your glasses, when in the hurry to take the worst shot of your life you lose valuable camera accessory, and finally, when nothing will be right in the world again, or so it seems... it is then that you find that tiny grain of inspiration to keep you going. This is for Travis Ruse...

remember the summer

Today I saw snow, for the first time this year, at Barnova, a village that, in my opinion, is our miniature Siberia. The view from the train was absolutely beautiful and little I needed to grab my bag and jump off to take some pictures. A good thing I didn't, as my jacket was not quite the North Pole ultimate fashion...

As a consolation, here's the place, at summer time

the rain on saturday

I haven't decided yet what my attitude will be, as I'm going to photograph the streets. should I sew the camera on my hand and go out in the open, as if it is this I had been doing for a life time?
or better play mr. hyde like I did on saturday? either way, I think it never would hurt to memorize by heart a dozen of pertinent reasons to photograph potentially aggressive strangers...

photographers of my soul

I ran into the site of nitsa these days, and the thing that gave me the greatest satisfaction was to find out that there actually is a trend in photography where you don't need to worry about any rules at all;

forget about focus on the subject, correct exposure, framing, mid-day sun restrictions, filters, fill in flashes (hurrah!!) and on, and on...

just photograph what you like, how you like it. hopefully others will like it, too :D:D

about blue blindness and a square sunrise

I red in a book that ancient Greeks suffered from a special form of daltonism, not being able to recognize color blue...

To be honest, I don't know if that's actually true; maybe the Greeks saw the blue but they couldn't find a way to make blue paint. The pottery and the walls of their homes are said to represent drawings with just three colors: green, red and yellow. The sky appears in nuances of grey and so is the sea.

Maybe they were just a bit tired of sky of blue (and sea of green go with that). And discriminating the blue was the only acceptable solution that could make the Greek people happy with its own destine.

Maybe harsh people as such didn't need a color to distract them into sentimentalism and romance. Because when you're out on the sea, strong wind blowing in your sail & cold rain lashing your face, you need to get a grip from the blues.

Thus off with the blue (they probably said), and got back to their usual stuff.
